Today dentists can make natural looking pure ceramic crowns – but there are occasions when the hardness and durability of gold makes it a great restoration choice.
Where appearance is of no concern – usually at the back of the mouth – gold is the best choice. Gold is more likely to reduce the possibility of chipping your teeth, ensuring that for longevity, nothing is as good as gold.
In terms of treatment, two trips are usually needed.
The first to prepare the tooth, make the impression, shade taking and for fitting a temporary crown.
On the second trip a permanent crown will be fitted.
